Dominique Strauss-Kahn Only Has One More Sex Abuse Case To Put Behind Him

One down, one to go, not including others that may be on the horizon.

A New York City hotel maid’s sexual assault lawsuit against former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn came to an end Monday, when a Bronx judge said a settlement had been reached…Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s name is still cited in a sexual case in France. French prosecutors have filed preliminary charges of “aggravated pimping” against him, as part of a broader judicial investigation into an alleged prostitution ring based out of the northern French city of Lille. Lawyers for Mr. Strauss-Kahn have rejected the pimping charges, saying their client participated in sex parties, but didn’t know women present may have been prostitutes. They have appealed against the charges, saying investigating magistrates have no ground to prosecute Mr. Strauss-Kahn. A judge is expected to decide whether magistrates should pursue their investigation or drop the charges on Dec. 19.

Prostitution is legal in France; pimping isn’t. To indict Mr. Strauss-Kahn, prosecutors would have to prove that he played an organizational role in the alleged prostitution ring. This summer, Mr. Strauss-Kahn separated from Anne Sinclair, his third wife. He has delivered lectures on the global economy in places including South Korea, Ukraine and Morocco, and in September he set up a management consulting firm called Parnasse in Paris.
